The
energy consumption of equipment is determined by the power drawn
by the electrical equipment (measured in watts) and the time the
equipment is on (measured in hours). For example, a 100 W lamp switched
on for 10 hours will consume 1,000 watt-hours of energy (or 1 kWh).
The
table below shows the average power consumption of common electrical
equipment used in offices. This data was obtained from a
comprehensive energy audit of all equipment in the UNSW Library
Building conducted by unswitch in 2000.
